John Nada lascia
Denver per trasferirsi a Los Angeles in cerca di un lavoro. Viene assunto come operaio in un cantiere edile e grazie ad
un collega trova alloggio in un campo di baracche 

nella periferia della città. Ma dopo pochi giorni, la
polizia sgombera il campo e Nada ritrova una scatola piena di strani occhiali da sole. Provandoli, Nada scopre una
realtà diversa, in 

bianco e nero: i cartelloni pubblicitari contengono messaggi subliminali e in giro ci
sono moltissime persone dall'aspetto simile a quello degli zombi. Capendo che si tratta di alieni che

schiavizzando gli umani, Nada cerca un modo per rivelare al mondo la loro presenza. Ma non sarà facile. Nada, aiutato
da Frank, un operaio di colore conosciuto in un cantiere e dalla
